Liverpool’s front-three is easily one of the best in the World. However, there is a problem in having an excellent striker like Roberto Firmino, who can do several jobs as a No.9. He is the man who helps Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane tick in a narrow front line. But the problem is to find a striker or a No.9 who can do a similar kind of job and also be a plan B for Klopp.
Here are three strikers who can offer that plan B option to Klopp and if one of them is signed, Firmino might have to play well week in week out: –
Max Kruse
The Werder Bremen striker can be a viable option as a backup. He has good dribbling skills along with quick shooting. He can play as a secondary striker or as a No.10 and also has the ability to play as a false 9.
He is deceptively quick on the ball, which can trouble defenders. In addition to other qualities, Kruse has a good stamina to work for the team tirelessly. He contributed 8 goals and 9 assists in 33 games for Werder Bremen during the recently concluded season.
Timo Werner
A German international who in recent seasons, done very well for RB Leipzig. Getting selected for the German national side has enhanced his reputation too. Werner is a prolific goalscorer and has a good pace to worry the opposition.
The striker has an impressive record this season, scoring 21 and assisting 10 goals in 45 appearances. This amounts to around 162 minutes of football per goal/assist. He is priced around £50m.
Divock Origi
Divock Origi is still a Liverpool player who was loaned out to Wolfsburg last season. The Belgian became a very good option for Klopp in the latter stages of 2015/16 season before petering out somewhat in 2016/17. As a result, he was loaned out to get some game time and also to improve as a player.
However, he didn’t do very well in Germany to catch his manager’s eyes. Conceivably, now is the right time that he comes back to Liverpool and wins the trust of Jurgen Klopp. He has pace, dribbling skills and also the height to be a perfect plan B for the Reds.
