Is This Next Neymar The Answer To Arsenal’s Attacking Problems?

Arsene Wenger will be looking to add to his already talented squad this summer, in order to win that much awaited Premier League trophy. The fans were left frustrated last season, when the Gunners missed a golden opportunity to win the title, after Leicester City piped all the other big boys to the title. The English league this summer is set to attract a lot of European talent with the amount of quality in the managers at various clubs around the country. The fact that the new TV deal will be get activated this summer will give the clubs top to bottom some extra revenue that they can use to bring in reinforcements.

Wenger along with other managers in the league, have already made additions to their squad. However there is an urgent need to bring in a world class striker that can compete with Giroud for the starting birth and provide 20-25 goals per season consistently.Gabriel Barbosa, termed as the ‘next Neymar’ in Brazil is reportedly on the radar of the Gunners along with attracting interest from clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United.

Fans were outraged with Vardy’s decision and disappointed that Wenger had resorted to chasing the signature of another relatively unknown young player. Brazil is known for churning up a host of talented young players, but many fail to truly live up to their overhyped potential. With Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa however, he is someone special, an individual with extraordinary talent. He has often been compared to former Santos Star Neymar.

Still on 19 years of age, Gabriel Barbosa has played for Santos his entire career. Having come through the club’s youth system, which has in recent years brought through big names like Neymar and Robinho, Gabigol became a first-team regular for the side back in 2013. His remarkable rise led to him being given a chance for the national team, where he has already made four appearances.

He is an exceptional dribbler with the ball but is also a very accurate passer. But the biggest quality of the Barbosa is his temperament. He has a gift of an ice-cold attitude that allows him to excel under pressure. At such an age, Barbosa still has a lot of work to do on his physical aspects but more than covers it with his ability with the ball at his feet.

He will not be featuring in the starting XI on a consistent basis but will provide excellent cover for the wingers on either side. He will surely cherish playing alongside the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil. With both Giroud and Walcott struggling for form, and Welback out injured, Barbosa will get enough opportunities every now and then to showcase his talent.

Unfortunately for Arsenal fans, the Brazilian is set to play for national team alongside Neymar at the Olympics in August, and with no deal immediately imminent between the Gunners and Santos, a move could be postponed until after the games have drawn to a close in Rio.
