Why Newcastle United Will Surprise Everyone In The Premier League Next Season

Newcastle United are a club with rich history and were one of the biggest clubs in England for a very long time. They have fallen down the pecking order, though, and are currently playing the Championship. However, they are expected to make it to the top-flight again and are right now on top of the Championship table, one point above the second-placed Brighton.

There have been bright spots for Newcastle United this season and they were smart to bring Rafael Benitez to the club. Though he couldn’t stop the Magpies from relegation, he is taking his time and is building Newcastle for a long run in the Premier League. The signs are good.

Benitez is not known to be a great man-manager but he is a great tactician nevertheless. When Newcastle come back to the Premier League, they will certainly have money to spend.

Magpies are the 21st richest club in the world, with a revenue of £146.01million at the end of last season. They were also placed 18th the year before that. Though Newcastle have been consistently placed low in the league table, they have managed to stay wealthy.

The Premier League clubs have been spending heavily in the last few seasons and Newcastle might as well do the same once they are promoted. The one big difference is that they have a manager who knows to spot quality players and not over-hyped individuals.

He has also sent a number of high-profile Newcastle players out on loan, all playing in the top division of various leagues. Tim Krul, Siem De jong, Florian Thauvin and Emmanuel Riviere were all surprisingly sent out on loan.

Two assumptions can be made out of this decision. One is that he wants the club’s top players to play in the top division so that they can all keep their intensity levels intact. Else, it can also be assumed that he has sent them all out on loan in order to reassess their positions once they come back to the club.

Nevertheless, changes are bound to happen with Benitez in charge of Newcastle and there will be no pressure as such for the manager as it was at Real Madrid.

Benitez will also be determined to prove his ability to build a club from the bottom and add to his glittering CV. He has won almost all the trophies at club level and this is a challenge that he would still relish.

Given the amount of money that Newcastle might give the Spaniard, it is safe to expect some good signings to be made at St. James’ Park. Given his experience with big clubs, he will know the level of expectations and can be the man to finally take Newcastle back to their ‘Big club’ status.

The premier league has all the top managers in the world and once Rafael Benitez joins them, it only adds to the list of top managers. Tactically, Benitez is not weaker than any of the current Premier League managers.

He already has locked horns with the so-called ‘biggies’ and will not be scared to battle them out once again. Premier League has become wide open and small teams are surprising the big ones with their mentality and desire.

Every team has a chance to beat every other team and the same will apply to the Magpies once they are promoted.

The verdict is that there is every chance that Newcastle would surprise the Premier League completely if Rafael Benitez is given the license to make changes to the squad.

Expect the famous old Newcastle United to claim their lost glory back.
