Leicester City opinion: Predicted Leicester City XI to face Newcastle United

Leicester are coming off the back off a great start to the Premier League season after getting their first win of the season away at Bramall Lane and sitting pretty in 4th place.

They will now travel to St. James’ Park now for their Carabao Cup tie. It should be a competitive cup game as both are Premier League sides. Both sides could use a good cup run and the Foxes have a lot of minutes that could be used up by their youngsters.

Team News

Most of the squad will be available besides the left-back Ben Chilwell recovering from a hip injury, who’s likely to be out until the international break.

Line-up

Here’s the predicted line-up for Brendan Rodgers’ men:-

Eldin Jakupovic – Goalkeeper

The former Hull city man is proven at this level and will be an able deputy for Kasper Schmeichel between the sticks

James Justin – Right-back

The new signing will be rearing to go and should fit in perfectly at right-back to give Ricardo Pereira a much-needed break.

Wes Morgan – Centre-back

The veteran centre-back is now 35-year-old and will most likely spend the rest of his time at Leicester as a leader in the dressing room and feature in cup competitions.

Caglar Soyuncu – Centre-back

The Turk has made a fine impression since replacing Harry Maguire and will be hoping to get as many minutes as possible to develop his game.

Christian Fuchs – Left-back

Fuchs has been playing in place of Ben Chilwell and despite doubts that he might have aged a little has put in some fantastic performances at the start of the season, looking sharper than ever.

Nampalys Mendy – Central midfield

Mendy will be used to break up play and keep the game ticking, while also helping move the ball from box-to-box in transition when required.

Dennis Praet – Central midfield

The Belgian will be looking forward to completing his first 90 minutes of the season after clocking 63 minutes against the Blades in their 2-1 win on the weekend. Newcastle away is a fantastic fixture to continue his adaptation.

Ayoze Perez – Attacking midfield

Perez is a second-striker by nature and will be hoping he can show the Foxes faithful why they bought him in the first place by being allowed to play in his preferred position

Harvey Barnes- Right-wing

He scored a pile-driver to win the game for Leicester on the weekend and deserves a starting berth.

Demarai Gray – Left-wing

The winger will be hoping he does a lot better when he gets the chance, with a make-or-break season on the cards.

Kelechi Iheanacho – Centre-forward

The Nigerian international is the only other recognized centre-forward in the side besides Jamie Vardy.
