Newcastle United opinion: Newcastle United should hold onto Isaac Hayden
According to a report in the Chronicle Live, Isaac Hayden looks set to stay at St. James’ Park after considering a move away from the Newcastle United earlier in the summer for personal reasons. The Magpies are heading into a new era with new management in Steve Bruce.
Newcastle finished the last two seasons in a respectable 10th place and 13th place and a lot of credit for that goes to former Manager Rafael Benitez, who took the team from the Championship to the Premier League.
The Magpies have already lost Ayoze Perez and loanee Salomon Rondon this season, who were two very important players in their push for survival last season. Now, they can’t afford to lose more players who are capable of being significant to their survival.
Hayden, along with Sean Longstaff, was very important in the second half of the season as they played just in front of the defensive line. Longstaff was the one setting the tempo and dictating play whereas Hayden was the ball-winner and helped in the transition from the defence to the attack.
At the moment, Newcastle’s midfield options aren’t great, especially if they lose Sean Longstaff, who has been heavily linked with a move away all summer with Manchester United sniffing for his signature.
Mo Diame has left the club already, who was a good servant, and then there’s Jonjo Shelvey who can be outstanding on his day but also is quite an inconsistent player.
Steve Bruce has a difficult job on his hands as he did not receive the best welcome.
A Geordie himself, his previous ties with Sunderland will not have been forgotten so soon by the Magpies, which is why it’s important that he gets to a good start and it’ll only be possible if he keeps his best players before adding some quality in.
Newcastle have actually shown some ambition recently after signing Miguel Almiron. They broke their transfer record with the signing of Brazilian forward Joelinton and winger Alain Saint-Maximin.

Conclusion
It’ll take some time for them all to gel but there’s more than enough in that side to at the very least survive the season and maybe even surprise a few by playing some entertaining football and make another top-half finish. A lot will depend on Hayden staying in the side.
