Newcastle making a move for this in-form PL speedster would bolster their squad immensely – Rafa should get him

Newcastle United opinion: Magpies should make a move for Ryan Fraser

Scottish news outlet the Daily Record has revealed that Newcastle United are set to battle Arsenal for Bournemouth man Ryan Fraser. The Scottish winger has been heavily linked with a move away from the Vitality Stadium in recent months, and it’s no surprise given his performances.

So far, the 25-year-old has contributed to 16 goals in the Premier League alone, which is incredible.

The report adds that Arsenal have been linked with a move for Fraser and while the move would be good for them, it would be even better for the Magpies.

They miss a direct and speedy presence on their flanks, with Miguel Almiron deputising for now. The former Atlanta United star has the ability to play out wide but it’s centrally that he really flourishes.

That’s where Rafael Benitez should be playing him, but Newcastle’s current squad requires a compromise in some areas.

Despite being only 5 feet and 5 inches tall, Fraser has never let that bother him, using it to his advantage, especially in the Premier League.

His height allows him to have a low centre of gravity. which improves his balance and agility with and without the ball. That combined with his deceptive strength and work-ethic, makes Fraser fit to play for most teams in the Premier League.

It’s that never say die attitude that the Magpies need more than anything, something that Almiron has injected with his arrival. It will definitely boost their team for next season’s mid-table push.

Under Rafael Benitez, the Magpies definitely have a chance of finishing amongst the top-ten sides.

However, that will only be possible if they splurge a little cash over the summer, shoring up key positions. This includes a new centre-back, a new striker, a new left-back and another winger.

Christian Atsu and Kennedy have been shadows of their former selves. While the two can provide pace, their lack of consistency and production in the final-third has made them unreliable.

Ryan Fraser has the ability and the tenacity to flourish for a top-level side and this is a move that makes absolute sense. Newcastle United need reinforcements all over the board and someone like Ryan Fraser could be moa great asset.

Football is and always will be the beautiful game. What every child understands, yet every adult struggles to, is that it is a game that defines the nature of the universe. But that's just me.
