New Signing To Start: Likely 4-3-3 Liverpool Lineup Klopp Will Assemble For The Pre-Season Game Against Wigan

Probable Liverpool Lineup To Face Wigan Athletic In Pre-Season Friendly

Liverpool kicked off their pre-season campaign with an impressive 4-0 win over Tranmere Rovers at the Prenton Park on Wednesday night.

Goals from veteran James Milner followed by strikes from Marko Grujic, Pedro Chirivella and Ben Woodburn assured that the Reds started things off on a winning note, while the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold also impressed.

They will next take on Wigan Athletic in another pre-season friendly today at the DW Stadium and manager Jurgen Klopp will be hoping his wards can achieve similar results against the League One outfit.

Here’s how Liverpool could line up at the DW Stadium, against the Latics:

Probable Liverpool XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Jurgen Klopp

Loris Karius (GK)

The German played a little over an hour in the last game and didn’t have a lot to do. Will be given another game in between the sticks.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB)

Started the previous game and looked very lively down the right-hand side. Should be given another start ahead of Nathaniel Clyne.

Dejan Lovren (CB)

Returned to training late and as a result, he did not feature on Wednesday. He might be given a run out for the first 45 minutes today.

Joe Gomez (CB)

Was part of the second XI against Tranmere, coming on in the second half. Likely to be handed a start against the Latics.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Jon Flanagan (LB)

While Milner scored a goal and impressed in the first half on Wednesday, Klopp would want to see more of Flanagan, given their shortage of options at left-back. Expect him to start.

Pedro Chirivella (CM)

Scored after coming on in the second period against Tranmere. With captain Jordan Henderson just returning to full fitness, he will likely be given some time off and Klopp will hand the youngster a start.

Marko Grujic (CM)

Had an impressive game, before being replaced at half-time, scoring a goal as well. This pre-season will be vital for Grujic to carve out a place in the first team and may start again.

Gini Wijnaldum (CM)

The Dutchman started the game against Tranmere and made a strong impression. He will be playing with a point to prove in the absence of Henderson.

Dominic Solanke

Ben Woodburn (RW)

The youngster came on in the second period and caused all sorts of troubles with his movement. Got on the scoresheet as well, from the penalty spot. Expect him to start on Friday.

Dominic Solanke (ST)

The summer arrival had a lively start to life with Liverpool, against Tranmere on Wednesday. Klopp may hand him his first start, against the Latics, in the place of Daniel Sturridge.

Ryan Kent (LW)

The youngster made a huge impact as well, coming on in the second period on Wednesday night. May have done enough to convince Klopp, to get himself a starting role on Friday.
