New Premier League Offside Rule 2015
Not a massive change but still an important one was made to the present set of offside rules in English football.
According to the new offside rule, if players stand in an offside position so long and even if they are not actively involved in the play, it will be still considered as an offside. To explain it more clearly, if a player has a shot on goal, and if one of his teammates in offside position makes a move for the ball, the goal will be disallowed even if he makes no contact with the ball.
This new offside rule will prevent goals like Jaun Mata’s free kick goal vs Stoke City where Marcos Rojo who was in an offside position, went for the ball and missed it and eventually, the ball landed in the net and the goal was awarded.
