It really was a night to forget for Tottenham as their Champions League hopes hang by a thread. It is hard to say what the problem is, they have not scored many in recent weeks, but at Wembley, the Tottenham team look like a shell of the team that perform in the Premier League. Pochettino has his work cut out to keep them in the competition.
Here is how Pochettino’s men performed on the night:
Hugo Lloris – 6/10
Not much to do for the Spurs goalkeeper. Made 1 comfortable save and didn’t have much chance with the Leverkusen goal.
Ben Davies – 5/10
There is so much difference between the Welshman and Spurs first choice Left back Rose. Davies showed tonight that he isn’t up to deputising for Rose. He was wasteful in possession and didn’t offer the same going forward.
Jan Vertonghen – 6/10
Was one of the better Tottenham players, and came out relatively faultless. Leverkusen didn’t really offer much threat but he did OK.
Eric Dier – 5/10
Dier is looking shaky at centre-half at the moment, and it was a few pieces of play from him that put Tottenham under pressure and started the nervous play that lead to the goal. Tottenham really missed Alderweireld this evening.
Kyle Walker – 7/10
One of the only Spurs’ players willing to take the game to the opposition. Made one or two good rampaging runs down the right, and went close to scoring after one.
Victor Wanyama – 7/10
Again the Kenyan proves he has become one of Tottenham’s best players. Broke play up without much fuss and played it simple.
Moussa Dembele – 6/10
Was brought off after 30 minutes. It isn’t sure whether it was due to injury or a tactical decision but had an average game up until that point.
Christian Eriksen – 5/10
Huffed and puffed, but as one of Tottenham’s supposed creative players he really did not do anything to prove he is deserving of that title.
Dele Alli – 5/10
Another who tried to make things happen, but didn’t really do a lot. The whole of the Tottenham attack looks disjointed at the moment, and it will be a worry for Pochettino.
Moussa Sissoko – 2/10
One of the worst performances of any player in a Tottenham shirt for many years. He had the worst passing accuracy of any Spurs player at 60% and he lost the ball on 31 occasions – that is an average of once every 3 minutes. He barely even looks like a footballer on this showing and is already looking like one of the biggest money flops in Premier League history.
Heung-Min Son – 5/10
Looked out of place up front on his own, it really isn’t his position. He tried to do something with the ball when he reverted to his favoured position on the left but lacked any real quality.

Vincent Janssen – 6/10
Did his usual routine of masquerading as a striker. He worked hard and held the ball up well. But didn’t look the slightest bit threatening in front of goal.
Harry Winks – 6/10
Was put on just after the Leverkusen winner, and did little to steady the ship. Neat and tidy, but the problem in Tottenham’s performance was too big for him to rectify on his own.
Georges-Kevin N’Koudou – 5/10
Didn’t have much opportunity to make an impact
