Mourinho to make 1 huge change – Strongest 4-2-3-1 Manchester United XI to face Newcastle

Predicted Manchester United Lineup To Face Newcastle United In The Premier League

Manchester United will look to capitalise on their victory over Huddersfield as they travel to St. James’ Park in order to face Newcastle United in the Premier League this weekend.

The Red Devils have really struggled to continue their winning rhythm of late and will be desperate for some points against a lowly Newcastle. Jose Mourinho’s men are currently 2nd in the league table with 56 points on the board, 13 points behind table-toppers Manchester City.

Newcastle have struggled in their comeback to the English top-flight, dawdling in the wrong end of the table with just 25 points on the board. United could run the risk of arch-rivals Liverpool edging closer to them in the table, should they slip-up against the Magpies this weekend.

Team News

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho will have the privilege of choosing from an almost fully-fit Manchester United squad this weekend! Defender Eric Bailly and attacking superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic are the only ones unavailable for the clash due to their respective injuries.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Jose Mourinho is likely to stick to his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation. It will be interesting to see how the Portuguese mastermind manages to once again accommodate the likes of Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez into his customary 4-2-3-1 shape with Romelu Lukaku leading the line.

Coach: Jose Mourinho

David de Gea (GK)

Arguably the best player for Manchester United at the moment, David de Gea’s presence in between the sticks will be crucial against the unpredictable forward line of Newcastle United. The Spaniard has already kept 15 clean sheets this season and will be desperate to extend his tally.

Antonio Valencia (RB)

Manchester United have been hugely boosted by the return of Antonio Valencia. The Ecuadorian is the real deal when it comes to the right-back position and his remarkable work-ethic and fighting spirit will once again aid the Red Devils this weekend.

Chris Smalling (RCB)

Phil Jones, who was recently criticised by Ian McGarry, might once again have to settle for the bench, following his horrendous performance against Spurs a few weeks ago. Therefore, his national team partner Chris Smalling is expected to slot in as the right-sided centre-half.

David De Gea

Marcos Rojo (LCB)

Marcos Rojo is expected to partner alongside Chris Smalling in the central defence. The Argentinian’s return from injury has given Jose Mourinho an extra option in the defensive department, especially with Eric Bailly injured.

Luke Shaw (LB)

Luke Shaw should continue his development in the left-back position and is expected to start against Newcastle this weekend. His attacking endeavour coupled with his great work-ethic could prove to be useful for the Red Devils.

Nemanja Matic (CDM)

Matic has been an integral part of the Manchester United midfield this season. His defensive capability coupled with his ability to lead his team has helped him establish a regular spot in the starting lineup. He will no doubt play a key role as United look to dominate their hosts this weekend.

Paul Pogba (CM)

French international Paul Pogba will partner Nemanja Matic in midfield but in a slightly advanced position. His ability to work around half-spaces and create chances has always handed United an extra edge in midfield and this week will be no different either.

Juan Mata (RW)

In recent weeks, Juan Mata has been preferred over Anthony Martial and that trend is set to continue this weekend. The former Chelsea midfielder, once heavily despised by coach Jose Mourinho, has successfully established himself as a key part of United’s offensive play.

Alexis Sanchez

Jesse Lingard (CAM)

By far the most in-form Manchester United player at the moment, Jesse Lingard is once again expected to cause havoc in the opposing half with his dynamic movements and killer finish.

Alexis Sanchez (LW)

Coming on the back of a 2:0 win over Huddersfield, where he scored his first goal in Manchester United colours since joining them last month, Alexis Sanchez will be keen to continue his good run of form. The onus will be on him to make a huge difference for his team against the Magpies this weekend.

Romelu Lukaku (ST)

Romelu Lukaku is more than expected to lead the offensive charge for Manchester United this week. The bulky Belgian has notched up 12 goals this season and will be desperate to extend his tally against Rafa Benitez’s men.
