Mourinho to make 1 big change – Predicted 4-2-3-1 Manchester United lineup to face Crystal Palace

Predicted Manchester United Lineup To Face Crystal Palace In The Premier League

Following an impressive win over Chelsea, Manchester United will be keen to preserve their 2-point lead over 3rd-placed Liverpool as they travel to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace on Monday.

The Red Devils have been one of the sturdiest teams in the league this season, having conceded only 20 goals, which is joint best in the league. Currently sitting second in the Premier League table, Jose Mourinho’s men could run the risk of arch-rivals Liverpool overtaking them by the end of the gameweek should they fail to win against the Eagles on Monday.

As for Crystal Palace, things haven’t gone as smoothly as they would have hoped for at the start of the season. The Eagles are very much in the relegation scrap after registering only 27 points. They are leading relegation-threatened Swansea only by goal difference while having a measly one point lead over 19th placed Stoke City.

Team News

Manchester United will miss the services of a host of star players, coming into this game. Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic is out with a knee injury but he has only been deemed doubtful and has not been ruled out entirely. The likes of Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera are also out with their respective injuries. Daley Blind and Phil Jones will be the two absentees in the defensive department.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

We can’t expect Jose Mourinho to use anything else other than his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation. The Portuguese will be keen to get the most out of his attacking setup, which has been largely quiet compared to the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City this season.

Probable Manchester United XI

Coach: Jose Mourinho

David de Gea (GK)

David de Gea will be the man between the sticks for Man United. The Spaniard has been the real saviour for the Red Devils in the past few years and his performance will once again be crucial as they look to snatch all three points against Crystal Palace.

Antonio Valencia (RB)

Antonio Valencia has emerged as a real leader at the back under head coach Jose Mourinho. The Ecuadorian International will captain the Manchester United side, who will be eager to continue their winning run this week.

Victor Lindelof (RCB)

Victor’s Lindelof might get another berth in the starting lineup, after having impressed in the previous outing against Chelsea. The Swedish international will finally have the chance to repay his value following a mediocre debut season in the Premier League so far.

Chris Smalling (LCB)

Despite all the recent criticisms, Chris Smalling has continued to feature in the Manchester United backline of late and this week will be no different. He will partner Victor Lindelof in central defence.

Ashley Young

Ashley Young (LB)

Head coach Jose Mourinho might choose to opt Ashley Young in the left-back position, ahead of the young and promising Luke Shaw. The veteran defender has the experience, which might prove to be useful against Crystal Palace.

Nemanja Matic (CDM)

Since his move from Chelsea last summer, Nemanja Matic has been a mainstay in the Manchester United XI this season. The Serbian will once again be crucial in midfield, as he looks to stop Palace’s flow in the centre of the park.

Scott McTominay (CM)

One of the most exciting youngsters in the Premier League at the moment, Scott McTominay’s recent breakout into the first-team has driven Manchester United fans crazy. The Scot is even termed as a long-term successor of Michael Carrick. It will be interesting to see how well he performs against the Eagles this week.

Jesse Lingard (RM)

Jesse Lingard is expected to replace Anthony Martial in the attacking position. Lingard has been one of Manchester United’s best players in 2018 and his form will once again be crucial as the visitors look to unlock the opposition.

Alexis Sanchez

Paul Pogba (CAM)

Deploying Paul Pogba in a more attacking position has allowed the Frenchman to be much more flexible and influential in the final third. The former Juventus midfielder will be United’s weapon-in-chief in the creative department this week.

Alexis Sanchez (LM)

Following a somewhat promising debut, Alexis Sanchez’s life in Manchester United hasn’t panned out the way one thought it would. That being said, however, the Chilean will remain a huge danger for the Crystal Palace side, who have been very leaky at the back this season.

Romelu Lukaku (ST)

Romelu Lukaku will lead the line for Manchester United this week. The Belgian will be full of confidence after scoring against his former team Chelsea in the previous game.
