According to DAILY EXPRESS, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has dropped a hint that captain John Terry will be given a new deal to extend his stay at the club. Terry, 33, who is near the twilight of illustrious club career had earlier signed a one year contract extension this summer. It was believed that this would be his last season before a coaching stint with the club but it now appears that the player is set to sign another contract extension.
Mourinho is his press conference said,
“It’s not time to speak about it, but he knows what I think.”
There is no doubt that Terry has been integral to Chelsea’s superb start this season having featured in all games missing out on none. Together with Gary Cahill, he has been a rock as Chelsea’s defense continue to look strong and impenetrable.
Should Terry sign a contract extension soon, Mourinho could also not have to look elsewhere for a centre back. And It will also give Kurt Zouma more time to develop into a long term replacement for Terry.
