After a narrow 1-0 defeat to Celtic in the Scottish League Cup last weekend, Steven Gerrard led Rangers through to the last 32 in the Europa League – their first since the 2010-11 season.
Rangers travel to Fir Park on Sunday as they face off against Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership. They are heading into this game on the back of a 1-1 draw against BSC Young Boys in the Europa League.
Currently 2nd in the league standings, Gerrard’s men would be hoping to take maximum points out of this game.
Meanwhile, Motherwell have recovered from their two losses and have won each of their last three league matches. They would be hoping to build on their recent success.
However, Rangers would know it is a crucial fixture for them and a win would help them stay within touching distance of Celtic.
Gerrard will be happy to have his first-team members available for this fixture without injuries. George Edmundson’s inclusion is doubtful after an illness.
Steven Davis and Filip Helander are not expected to be a part of the squad. Jordan Jones is back in training but wasn’t picked against Young Boys at the weekend.
The veteran did not have much to do against Young Boys until the 65th minute where he produced a fine save. He is the first choice in goal for Rangers.
The captain has been a key member of Gerrard’s squad. He worked hard against the Swiss side but couldn’t help the team top their group. He is a sure starter.
The Croatian has not been a regular so far but Helander’s fitness issue has given him a chance to start at the heart of the defence. He would be hoping to prove a point and cement his place.
The centre-back has featured in all the league games so far and is expected to start as usual.
He was brilliant, steady and was a constant threat to Young Boys. He was unlucky for the goal that the Gers conceded.
The most industrious person in Rangers’ midfield, the Finland international has been good this season and should start this game.
Despite being in fine form this season, the former Aberdeen man had a game to forget at the weekend. He would be hoping to move away from that and put in a shift on Sunday.
The Nigerian hasn’t been at his best in the last few games. Against Young Boys too, he lacked confidence but would retain his spot due to Davis’ absence.
Kent has been a key component in Rangers’ attack since his return from injury. He should start ahead of others and would be hoping to be more effective.
The Canadian international has been a regular under Gerrard. He has taken his game to the next level and therefore, he is expected to cover the right flank.
With 10 goals in 15 games this season, the Colombian talisman is expected to continue his fine form which he displayed in the last outing against Young Boys.
