Mooy And Brown To Start – Strongest 4-2-3-1 Huddersfield Line-Up To Face Sheffield Wednesday

Huddersfield Town

Predicted Huddersfield Lineup To Face Sheffield Wednesday

The Terriers are long overdue a goal against Sheffield Wednesday, let alone a win, and go into the away leg of their play-off semi-final thinking they’ll need at least one to get to Wembley.

Huddersfield’s only away win in the last 8 weeks came at Wolverhampton Wanderers and their overall profile is that of a tiring side who have perhaps not quite lasted the distance in the Championship. Keeping Sheffield Wednesday out entirely for another 90+ minutes seems unlikely and so a good attacking display will be needed to give themselves any chance here.

The likes of Kachunga, Brown, and Wells are crucial to the fight and need to play the game of their lives to survive this battle.

Probable Huddersfield Playing XI:

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: David Wagner

GK – Joel Coleman

The 21-year-old may get another chance to impress in goal and should start this all important game for Huddersfield Town.

RB – Tom Smith

His attacking prowess has been even more impressive than his defensive skills and given his team’s need, he may just be required to pop up with a goal or an assist.

CB – Michael Hefele

Huddersfield’s German back line (except Smith) has been a major part of their relative success this campaign and Hefele will be seen by David Wagner as a crucial player once more.

CB – Chris Schindler

Keeping the Sheffield Wednesday front 2 quiet on their own patch will not be easy but Hefele and Schindler are the right men for the job.

LB – Chris Lowe

Wallace and Hunt are a strong combo for Sheffield Wednesday and so Lowe will need to be at his best defensively to keep them at bay and stop them providing the chances for Fletcher and Forestieri.

CM – Jonathan Hogg

Part of what a hugely important central midfield battle, Hogg is an unsung hero in this division and his participation here will be vital.

CM – Aaron Mooy

The Australian has been Huddersfield’s player of the season and needs to produce one (hopefully two) last big performance in midfield.

RW – Elias Kachunga

Huddersfield Town need to be lively on the break and this is where Kachunga can be vital. Pace and quick thinking will be the order of the day and if Wednesday keep him quiet, they will have taken a step towards the final.

CAM – Isaiah Brown

Another lively player in behind the striker, Brown’s contribution to this game cannot be underestimated.

LW – Rajiv van La Parra

More will be expected of him and hopefully, he does his job well on the left-hand side of Huddersfield’s attack.

ST – Nahki Wells

The main man in attack and fully capable of making the difference on the night. Whether he has the beating of Lees or Loovens though is open to question.
