Miller And McKay Up-front: Predicted 4-3-3 Rangers Line-Up To Face Motherwell

Predicted Rangers Lineup To Face Motherwell

Pedro Caixinha gets a proper taste of Scottish football this weekend when he takes his Rangers side to play Motherwell.

The Gers’ form has improved markedly since the departure of Mark Warburton and, though great credit goes to Graeme Murty for his efforts in the interim, fans are expecting further improvement under the guidance of their new Portuguese coach.

It’s difficult to say which way Caixinha will go, but one would imagine he’d stick with known top performers.

Manager: Pedro Caixinha

Formation: 4-3-3

Expected Starting Lineup:

GK – Wes Foderingham

Steady and reliable, it’s unlikely that his place would be threatened by Jak Alnwick.

RB – James Tavernier

Although he was deployed in the midfield against Celtic, Caixinha would have recognised that in moving him forward, Rangers lost one of the better attacking right-backs in the country.

CB – Clint Hill

If this game had come a few weeks earlier the veteran defender’s place would have been in jeopardy.  However, 3 goals in as many games may see him retain his place in the lineup.

CB – Danny Wilson

Rob Kiernan and Philippe Senderos will be pushing for a place in the coming weeks, but for now the former Liverpool man will carry on at centre-back.

LB – Lee Wallace

A talisman for Rangers since joining from Hearts back in 2011, the skipper will continue at left-back and provide the same attacking impetus as Tavernier on the other flank.

RM – Jon Toral

Rangers have had some success with Arsenal loanees in the past and fans may only wish this one had come a little bit sooner. 2 goals and 3 assists already in his 15 games are only one way of showing off his undoubted talent.

CM – Jason Holt

The Edinburgh man looks certain to be deployed as the central midfield linchpin and another solid and sound performance is expected of him. Andy Halliday is the other option.

LM – Emerson Hyndman

8 games, 4 goals. The American definitely has the knack and should play again.

RW – Martyn Waghorn

Waghorn can be so dangerous while cutting in from the right with his left foot; something that a European manager will most likely appreciate. His record of scoring 1 goal every 4 games is not bad but probably doesn’t do justice to him. He’ll be dangerous for sure.

LW – Barrie McKay

Much sought-after these days, the kid from Paisley is another player who is capable of doing better. Expect his form to take a climb very shortly.

ST – Kenny Miller

Despite the presence of Joe Garner, wise old head Miller would be a great choice to carry on leading the line. He doesn’t score as often as he used to but will not let anyone down when given the opportunity.
