Mikel Merino Out, Isaac Hayden In – Strongest 4-2-3-1 Newcastle United Line-Up To Face Bournemouth

Predicted Newcastle United Line-up To Face Bournemouth In The Premier League

Newcastle United will face off against relegation battlers Bournemouth, in gameweek 11 of the Premier League, at the St. James’ Park, on Saturday.

The Magpies come into the game on the back of a 1-0 loss to Burnley away at the Turf Moor on Monday night, but are still stationed at 9th position in the league table. And manager Rafael Benitez will be hoping to improve the position with three points against the 19th-placed Cherries. Newcastle haven’t tasted defeat at home in the Premier League after the 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on the opening day and will look to continue the streak against Eddie Howe’s side.

Team News

Midfield mainstay Mikel Merino is set to miss the clash due to a back strain. Left-back Paul Dummett is still unavailable for selection, following his injury on the opening day of the season.

Here’s how Newcastle might take the field this weekend:

Manager: Rafa Benitez

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Rob Elliot (GK)

The 30-year old has been looked convincing between the sticks for the Magpies and should continue to feature in goal against Bournemouth.

DeAndre Yedlin (RB)

The USMNT right-back has improved under the guidance of Benitez and will want to put in a strong display against Marc Pugh on Saturday.

Jamaal Lascelles

Jamaal Lascelles (CB)

The captain of the club has been extremely impressive so far this season, but will have a physical battle on hands against Benik Afobe.

Florian Lejeune (CB)

Was preferred over Ciaran Clark in the heart of the defence for the last two games and that is unlikely to change against the Cherries.

Javi Manquiilo (LB)

With no recognised left-back available, right-sided full-back Javi Manquillo is expected to continue in this slot on Saturday.

Jonjo Shelvey

Jonjo Shelvey (CM)

The midfield metronome for the Magpies, Englishman Shelvey, as usual, will have an important role to play if his team are to finish as the winners.

Isaac Hayden (CM)

Mo Diame was handed a surprise start in the previous game in Merino’s absence, but we may well see Isaac Hayden return to the starting XI to partner Shelvey.

Matt Ritchie (RW)

The Scot wasn’t effective against the Clarets this past Monday, and will want to shine against his former club this weekend.

Matt Ritchie

Ayoze Perez (CAM)

The hard-working Spaniard should continue in the hole behind the main striker for the Magpies. Needs to carry more of a goal threat though.

Christian Atsu (LW)

The former Chelsea man should line up on the left-hand side of the attack for the home team. Can pose serious problems with his pace if he gets going.

Joselu (ST)

Hasn’t really managed to set the stage alight since his summer move. Will want to change that and start scoring on a regular basis to add to his two strikes so far.
