Mikel Dropped – Predicted Chelsea Line Up To Face Liverpool

A premier league classic is just around the corner as we are about to witness Chelsea’s trip to Liverpool this Wednesday. After their poor performance against Sunderland last weekend, the Blue side will be looking to bounce back in the league and get a win from the following fixture.

Liverpool, on the other hand, will be a very confident side as they recently defeated Watford with a comfortable score line of 2 goals to nil. Liverpool have experienced a great improvement in their performance after the arrival of Jürgen Klopp and are considered as the favourites for tonight’s game.

The last time these two sides met in this year’s premier league, Liverpool got the better of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and destroyed the side by scoring 3 goals. Looking at the clubs’ recent records in the league, it is Liverpool who stands firm in the fixture as they have won 4 of their last 6 games and have lost just once, while, Chelsea in their last 6 games have won just 2 and have lost thrice.

Here is the strongest Chelsea’s lineup that could face Liverpool this Wednesday-

Goalkeeper: Thibaut Courtois-

The number one choice goal keeper concede 3 goals in the last fixture, but to be honest, he couldn’t have done anything to save the shots as all the goals were perfectly positioned. Liverpool has improved their attacking traits a lot lately, and looking at Chelsea’s defence, he will have a tough night.

Defence: Azpilicueta; Cahill; Ivanovic; Baba-

With John Terry suspended for the game against Liverpool, Hiddink will surely deploy Ivanovic at the back alongside Cahill, who didn’t do much to impress the fans in his last game. Both center backs will be having one of their toughest night as they will be facing Coutinho, Sturridge, Lallana and what not. With Ivanovic at center back, Baba Rahman might start at the left back and Azpilicueta at right.

Midfielders: Pedro; Fabregas; Matic; Willian; Hazard-

The midfielders had a bitter time at the stadium of light and were held back by Sunderland’s defence. Hiddink might leave out Mikel as his presence in his last game was next to nothing. He might go with Matic who will work as a holding midfielder to silent the passes from Liverpool. Fabregas will be doing his job as always in the central midfield, and the Dutch interim might use Willian just behind Diego Costa as a number 10 man for the team. The wings will be controlled by the Spanish and Belgian Internationals Pedro and Hazard respectively, who will have to give their best to crack Liverpool’s defence.

Striker: Diego Costa-

The kind of start Diego had this season was very awful. But, no one can argue over the fact that he is getting back in his shape. He has been a completely different striker this season, but he also has been the most important link for the team. Should have scored more in the game against Sunderland, but I’m pretty sure that he will be a threat to Liverpool’s defence if a proper support is delivered from midfield.
