According to a report in Daily Mail, teenage striker Timothy Weah is hoping to leave French giants Paris-Saint Germain on loan in order to get more playing time.
The 18-year-old has only featured three times for the Parisiens as big names Edinson Cavani, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe’s presence has limited his opportunities in the first eleven.
As per the report, the US international has said that he is looking to improve and learn from the big players who take the field on a regular basis. While that is helpful for a young prodigy, the fact that he is not able to play might affect his progress.
Hence, it makes sense for him to go out on loan for six months, have a strike elsewhere and come back fresh next summer in a bid to fight for a spot in the team. He is a quality striker with loads of potential to become a world superstar in the near future. Therefore, clubs around Europe should be interested in getting this player on loan.
There is one club who must take this opportunity and sign the striker in January – Middlesbrough. Here’s why:
Looking at Boro’s squad, they lack a striker with a cutting edge, someone who can make a difference in an instant. Britt Assombalonga and Jordan Hugill together have scored 8 goals, while Rudy Gestede is yet to open the account for this season.
In fact, Tony Pulis’ men have netted only 21 goals in 18 games, and it is due to their water-tight defence that they are second in the table. Trusting the back-line to thwart the opposition and win games is how Pulis likes to play, however, this is a long season and there might be games where his defence would ship in goals. Hence, they will require someone who can make a difference.
Timothy Weah can be that guy for the Teesside club. The American is a striker and can also play on the left wing if required. He is a fantastic finisher in front of the goal and possesses the raw pace to go past defenders in a flash, making him a perfect player for counter-attacking football – something which Pulis is familiar with.

Hence, if Middlesbrough are to sustain their bid for Premier League promotion, they should get Weah on a short-term loan deal.
