Michu, Fellaini Unstoppable, Arsenal And Chelsea Players Struggle – Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 15 Review

Gameweek 15 saw an average of 48 points, with many astonishing results that made the week special for some of the Fantasy Premier League managers and left others sulking. The two players whom we cannot help but mention here are Michu and Fellaini, who are proving to be invaluable for their owners. Among the upsets are surely the loss of Arsenal and Chelsea, who are yet to open their winning account under new manager Benitez. Manchester United also scraped to a win against Reading, thanks to their unsolved defensive woes. Stoke City maintained yet another clean-sheet making us wonder what does it take to penetrate their defense? Let us further elucidate the major happenings from this week.

Michu, Fellaini simply unstoppable

Michu finding his form again

Michu, Swansea’s £2 million purchase from Spain, has proven to be the best bet of the season as he again scored two goals against a lacklustre Arsenal side to move to top of the midfielder’s ranking with a whooping score of 95. With this his 39% ownership is bound to increase, also increasing his price which right now stands at £7.7m. Fellaini also scored a goal to help his side achieve a 1-1 draw against Manchester City. He now lies only second to Michu with 91 points and an ownership of 39.3%. Priced in the almost same bracket of £7.6m, he looks an obvious proposition for any team and it is his tendency to score goals that makes him a fixture proof player.

Chelsea, Arsenal bite the dust- Chelsea are a long way from making an impression under their new manager Rafa Benitez, with yet one more loss against against West Ham. Although, Mata scored one in the first half, West Ham bounced back in the second half with three back to back goals. So, no prizes for guessing that the Chelsea players have lost their value and the ownership of Hazard and Mata are bound to drop. So before their prices diminish further, it is high time to drop them from your team and take suitable replacements. Arsenal, on the other hand, maintained their inconsistency when they lost to Swansea, making Wenger to lash out at his senior payers. So we would not be amazed to see some changes in the team in the near future and thus it may be the best time to avoid the Arsenal players like Cazorla, Wlcotta and Podolski.

Rooney scores, defense falters- In an absolutely crazy first half Manchester United score four while Reading scores three with the final score line remaining the same.  Rooney scored two goals and one assist to pick up 16 points and become the joint player of the week. Van Persie also scored one goal, earning 6 points for his owners. But what does not seem to improve a bit this season is Manchester United’s defence, which again slipped three goals making Ferguson furious. Thus it becomes pointless to pick any of their defenders like Rafael, Evra or Evans in the team, even though they have attacking instincts. Picking a defender only on attacking exploits is not a very intelligent idea and as Rooney’s attacking role cannot be trusted to the fullest extent, Fantasy Premier League managers are not left with too much of a choice other than Van Persie.

Bale injured, Ba scores

Demba Ba scores with bonus points

Casting doubt over the minds of his 21.8% owners, Gareth Bale has suffered a hamstring injury in Spurs’ previous match against Fulham and may be out for two weeks as stated by Villas-Boas. This may be a huge loss for the managers who were looking to cash in on the form of the Welsh international and score some well-deserved points. In Newcastle’s match with Wigan, Ba scored twice to move his total score to 90 points, just behind Van Persie and Tevez. With Ben Arfa out with an injury, Ba is their right man up front and it may be a wise decision to pick him up right now.
