Ozil vs Mkhitaryan: Who Will Win The Battle Of Assists Between The Arsenal And United Stars?

Manchester United signed one of the best players in recent seasons in this transfer window and we are not talking about the Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. What we are referring to is the Armenian, Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The former Borussia Dortmund star was one of the most consistent players in the Bundesliga and it certainly was a coup by the Premier League side to bring him to England, where at least the Red half of Manchester hopes, he will flourish.

The Armenian is known for his ability to pick out a player and give them a great chance of scoring but he will face a battle from another star who finally hit top gear last season, Mesut Ozil. The German international was one of the best players for Arsenal last time around and will be looking to continue his form from last season into this.

Arsenal and Manchester United have made a number of signings but in this race to be the best assist provider could turn out to be something to keep an eye on. Mesut Ozil has played in England for a number of years while it is the first season for the much accomplished Armenian.

One factor, more than anything else will play a role in the number of assist provided. Mesut Ozil notched up 19 assists last season which is pretty good but Mkhitaryan came up with 15 in the Bundesliga and even scored 11 times. While all is good, the players each star will take to the field with should decide who goes out on top of the assists chart.

Arsenal haven’t really provided a lot of support to their king of assists, Ozil. Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck do not provide a lot of confidence or even the belief of a lot of goals. The other hope that Arsenal fans would have is that Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott somehow playing up top and finishing but this aspect of attack has been a problem for the Gunners for a long time and unless they sign a quality striker in this window, the onus falls on Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Mkhitaryan last time around played with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, one of the best strikers in the Bundesliga. The Armenian also was pairing up well with Marco Reus, even if the German was injured for a while at Dortmund.

He had two of the best strikers in Germany playing with him and this time around he has one of the best finishers in the world joining him. Zlatan Ibrahimovic might not be the youngest player in the world but he certainly is going to score a number of goals for Manchester United this season and that would be assisted by Mkhitaryan.

The Armenian would also have the likes of Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney playing in an advanced role and providing more firepower for the Premier League club. Mkhitaryan might not be the one who scores a lot of goals this season but with a trio of Martial, Rooney and Ibrahimovic ahead of him, it is no surprise that Mkhitaryan is the one who could turn out to be the man who gets to the top of the assists chart and for good measure too.
