Talking about Saponara, Milan chief Adriano said:

Saponara, 21, is a capable offensive player who mainly operates on the wings and has scored 8 goals in the first half of the Serie B season with Tuscan side Empoli. He has also played with the Italian U-21 team. With pace, an eye for goal, and good technique, Saponara could feature well next year in Milan’s ‘baby’ three pronged attack. For now, he will continue to get regular playing time in the second division. Milan finally managed to capture the youngster after seeing off interests from Juventus, Inter and Liverpool.
The youngster was bazzled about his move to Milan, he said:
“I can’t believe it that I’m actually joining Milan. I had just finished training and then my teammates congratulated me,” Saponara told reporters. I read the news about Milan having signed me and I couldn’t believe it.
I immediately started crying out of joy. Joining Milan is a great dream come true for me. It means that all the sacrifices have been worth it. I feel a great sense of responsibility after this transfer. Now I just want to finish the season with Empoli in the best way.”
