Norwich City opinion – Max Aarons to get new contract – a no-brainer?

According to a report in Telegraph, Norwich City are set to offer another new contract to their teenage star Max Aarons after clinching promotion to the Premier League.

The England U-19 international, who signed an extension eight months ago, has been one of the key players for Daniel Farke’s men. Hence, the Canaries want to offer him an improved deal, potentially to ward off interest from other clubs (h/t Telegraph).

This is Aarons’ debut season in the Championship, and the one that has been memorable. He has taken over from Ivo Pinto at right-back and made that position his own.

Here’s why Norwich are doing the right thing by offering another new contract to the 19-year-old:

Aarons is one of the stars who has to be kept by the Canaries

Max Aarons is a prodigious young talent, who has had an unbelievable season at right-back. With six assists and 32 key passes in 40 league appearances, it is clear that the teenager is very good at delivering good balls into the box from the wide areas. (Whoscored.com)

Furthermore, the 19-year-old’s pace helps him to make runs forward and also recover them when possession changes hands. Given how Daniel Farke wants his team to play, full-backs are one of the important components and Aarons has stepped up to the task more often than not.

Hence, with Norwich City now promoted to the Premier League, it is important that they keep hold of their key players for the coming season and beyond.

Conclusion

Hence, even though he signed an extension eight months ago, it makes sense from the club’s viewpoint to offer improved terms to Max Aarons. He deserves this for sure.

From the player’s point of view, it is very good that the club has recognised his effort. He now has a chance to keep his performance level up in the top-flight and potentially make himself a star in the reckoning on the biggest stage.
