During the post-match interview of the game between Juventus and Parma game, Maurizio Sarri said that Cristiano Ronaldo is an animal who craves for goals.
The 34-year-old added two more goals to his kitty in the process of helping the Turin-based club to a win over Roberto D’Aversa’s side. The brace makes it 18 goals in all competitions for the former Real Madrid man.
The game started with both sides on equal terms before the Portuguese international’s deflected shot wrongfooted goalkeeper Luigi Sepe. The hosts took the lead two minutes before half-time.
Ten minutes into the second half, Parma equalized through a glancing header from substitute Andreas Cornelius, which was far out of Wojciech Szczesny’s reach. Juventus immediately responded after three minutes, as Paulo Dybala sent Ronaldo through on goal to make it 2-1 in favour of the title-holders.
Sarri: “Ronaldo, an animal that lives for goals”
Though Juventus were not at their best, Ronaldo’s brace ensured them a victory and helped them to a four-point lead over second-placed Inter Milan, who were held to 1-1 draw by Lecce earlier in the day.
And the post-match interview followed, with manager Sarri hailing Ronaldo’s athleticism and spirit. He claimed that the forward is an animal that lives to score goals. And it is obvious that the star comes with an assurance of scoring each time he takes the field.
Ronaldo has turned away from the dip in form earlier in the season, where he had just 5 goals to his name from ten league games. Since the start of December, he has found the back of the net 11 times in 7 games, including a hat-trick against Cagliari in the first match of the New Year.
His prowess in front of goal will be much-needed for the side, which is progressing steadily in various competitions. Sarri and his men will be travelling to Rome and Naples this week as they face two tougher opponents in the Coppa Italia and the Serie A respectively.
