Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has called Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema over the phone to discuss a potential move to the Emirates according to claims by a respected Spanish journalist. Benzema is a key summer target for the Gunners, as the French manager looks to add a world-class striker to his current squad.
COPE reporter Paco Gonzalez has said that Wenger has been on the phone with the French international to discuss a potential move to north London.
Further, Real are not keen on selling the front-man but Wenger hopes to convince him to leave Spain and join the Premier League giants.
Apart from Arsenal, the 27 year old superstar was also linked with Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United, though the former are his favoured choice, if he does make the switch to England in the near future.
The former Lyon man has made a total of 188 appearances, scoring 87 goals for the La Liga giants, since joining them in 2009.
