According to reports from Valencia newspaper Super Deporte, ‘Otamendi is 50’. It’s not a revelation about his age, but the Spanish club want €50m for the Argentine international. The amount is Otamendi’s full buyout clause and if the player is to leave, Manchester United would have to pay it.
The Red Devils would surely pay less rather and Super Deporte say the player’s agent Eugenio Lopez has arrived in Spain from Argentina. He will present an offer from the Premier League giants and try to get a deal sorted out though La Liga giants Real Madrid are also interested.
Manager Louis van Gaal is keen on adding some high-quality players to his squad, after a trophyless debut season in England. Also, United make a return to Champions League football in the upcoming campaign and the Dutchman will hope that his side can impress in Europe.
If a deal does indeed go through, the Argentine could be play a major part at Old Trafford next season, as the Manchester based side have struggled quite a bit defensively in the previous campaign.
