A thumping victory over Zorya in the final game of the group stage of the Europa League this season gave Manchester United a place in the knockout phase of the competition as they keep their back door to the Champions League next season open. Mourinho will, however, be unhappy with the league form of his side and things will not get any easier this weekend as they face a Tottenham Hotspur side that is fresh from a 5 goal victory against Swansea last weekend. Spurs were knocked out of the Champions League and will meet United in the Round of 32 of the Europa League while both teams are also closely poised in the points, giving each other a chance to go on top of the other with a victory.

Here is the predicted lineup that Mourinho might field for this game against Tottenham Hotspur:

Team News:

The manager revealed in his presser that defensive duo Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw are ruled out of this game against the Spurs. Defender Eric Bailly seemed to have picked up a knock in the Europa League encounter but he is expected to be back in action for this game. They remain the only concerns for the manager ahead of this game.

David de Gea:

The Spaniard is the first choice shot-stopper for United and is one of the best in the league. He should start this game against the Spurs.

Antonio Valencia:

Arguably the most consistent defender for United this season, Valencia is playing an important role for the side and should continue to do so this weekend.

Eric Bailly:

Coming back from injury just this week, Bailly will play his first league game in over a month and will hope to put in a strong performance against the Spurs.

Phil Jones:

The English international is slowly cementing his place at the back for the side and he should keep his place for this game at the weekend.

Matteo Darmian:

Having been rested for the Europa League game, the Italian has been used regularly by Mourinho in wake of injuries and he should start this game at left-back for United.

Michael Carrick:

Playing one of the most energetic sides in the competition, Mourinho will need some mettle to his midfield and he might call upon the experience of Carrick for this game against the Spurs.

Ander Herrera:

The most consistent midfielders for United this season, Herrera has been in sublime form for the Red Devils and should keep his place in the side for this game.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan:

Catching some exciting form recently, the Armenian will now play an important role at the club and will be a regular started under Mourinho this season.

Paul Pogba:

The Frenchman has been on and off in the last few games but he will have to be at his best if United are to take anything from this game against Spurs.

Anthony Martial:

Picking up some form in the last few games after coming back from injury, Martial is an important player for United and will keep his place in the side for this game.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic:

The Swede was on target in the last two games for the side and he should lead the attack for the side even in this game against Spurs.
