Martial And Lukaku To Start – Strongest 4-2-3-1 Manchester United XI To Face Liverpool On Saturday

Predicted Manchester United Line-up To Face Liverpool In The Premier League

Manchester United are at the top of their game at the moment and only their goal difference is keeping them away from the top spot of the Premier League table. They have dropped just two points so far this season but are up for a thrilling encounter when they travel to Anfield this weekend, to face a Jurgen Klopp’s side, who are desperate to turn things around.

After a horrific month of September, the Reds will aim to hit back hard and what could be better than a win over their arch-rivals Manchester United? Jose Mourinho will be aware of the dangers the home side posseses.

Team News

In early team news, midfield trio Paul Pogba, Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini, are out injured. Marcos Rojo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic remain sidelined while star striker Romelu Lukaku and defender Phil Jones are expected to be fit for this game.

Here’s how Manchester United might line up against Liverpool:

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Jose Mourinho

GK – David de Gea

The Spaniard is the first choice shot-stopper for United and it is impossible that Mourinho would drop the world’s best goalkeeper for such a crucial fixture.

RB – Antonio Valencia

The veteran full-back may lead the side out this weekend and will have loads of responsibilities on his shoulders.

Antonio Valencia

CB – Eric Bailly

The first-choice CB for Mourinho, Bailly has been solid at the back and will hope to keep out of the likes of Firmino in this game.

CB – Phil Jones

Though not fully fit yet, Jones remains Bailly’s first choice partner and is expected to start at the heart of the defence in this crunch game.

LB – Ashley Young

With loads of experience under his belt, Young remains Mourinho’s best choice at left-back and he should start against the Reds.

CM – Nemanja Matic

The Serbian has been effective in the middle of the park this season but will have his work cut out against a fluid Liverpool attack. Neverthelss, expect him to come out on top.

CM – Ander Herrera

The Spaniard has not been able to break into the first-team but this is a chance for him to prove his mettle.

RW – Juan Mata

The Spanish playmaker has always been effective in front of goal against Liverpool and will hope to continue his good time at Anfield this weekend as well.

CAM – Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Mkhitaryan has not been at his best in the last couple of games for United but needs to step up against their arch-rivals.

Romelu Lukaku

LW – Anthony Martial

Though Rashford will be raring to go, Mourinho should give Martial a chance to start as he can easily make this Liverpool defence crumble.

ST – Romelu Lukaku

The Belgian is also not fully fit after his niggles while on international duty but is expected to recover on time to lead United’s attack for this tie.
