Predicted Sheffield United Lineup To Face MK Dons
Sheffield United’s 15-match unbeaten run has taken them to the League One title and they would love to finish the season on an even higher note. 100 points are still in reach for the Bramall Lane side which means they still have an incentive.
Another away trip beckons this week at MK Dons where the Blades will be favourites once more, though the home side are safe in mid-table and can play with freedom. A decent game should be on the cards, with the away support in celebration mode.
Chris Wilder’s favoured 3-5-2 formation could be back in play here, with the following personnel charged with keeping United’s brilliant run going:
Probable Sheffield United XI:
Manager: Chris Wilder
Formation: 3-5-2
GK – Simon Moore
Having a splendid first season in Sheffield, the former Cardiff City ‘keeper has kept 16 clean sheets in the league and would love a couple more.
CB – Chris Basham
One of the mainstays of the Blades’ team and sure to start again at the back.
CB – Jake Wright
Although he only signed last summer from Oxford, Wright must worry that at, 31 the club may look to replace him for their Championship season and so he will be desperately keen to prove his worth.
CB – Jack O’Connell
Another of United’s successful signings last summer, O’Connell’s left foot gives the defence some good balance.
RM – Kieron Freeman
Yet another successful 2016 signing, the Welshman already has 9 league goals and can once again provide a great attacking outlet on the right as well as remaining defensively sound.
CM – Mark Duffy
Without surprise – Duffy was another summer signing who has thrived since joining the Blades. 6 goals in 37 league games is a good return and he can carry on in midfield.
CM – Paul Coutts
Apart from the three out-and-out defenders, Coutts is a key reason why Sheffield United are so good defensively. Without his presence in central midfield they would not be in this position.
CM – John Fleck
The former Rangers man had a handful of games in the Championship with Blackpool some time ago and would deserve the chance to play at that level once again.
LM – Daniel Lafferty
Having signed from Burnley last year, Lafferty is going great guns now and should play once more on the left side.
ST – Leon Clarke
There’ll be plenty of experience up front again for Sheffield United, Billy Sharp being partnered by Clarke who is 32 now. He has scored 6 in 21 this season and will be looking to score more.
ST – Billy Sharp
The 31-year-old is aiming to have his best ever season, having smashed in 27 league goals already. He might get at least a couple more in the remaining two games.
