Mancienne Struggles On Return – The Best And The Worst Rated Nottingham Forest Players vs Burton Albion

Nottingham Forest continued their disappointing away form in the Championship with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Nigel Clough’s Burton Albion on Saturday at the Pirelli Stadium.

A 26th-minute free-kick from on-loan Fulham man Cauley Woodrow was enough to earn all three points for The Brewers and leave Gary Brazil’s side just two points above the relegation zone with nine games to play in the Championship.

Nottingham Forest Player Ratings

Jordan Smith – 6/10

Could be argued that he could have done better with the free-kick that led to Burton’s goal. Other than that, he didn’t have much to do.

Eric Lichaj – 5/10

Had a hard time dealing with the energy and enterprise of Lloyd Dyer. Found the going tough and was replaced around the hour mark.

Joe Worrall – 6/10

Was steady and solid at the back, especially in the first-half when Forest were put under some serious pressure.

Danny Fox – 6/10

Worked well with Worrall and kept the chances at a minimum for Burton, in a game where they had to defend for large phases.

Armand Traore – 6/10

Returned to the line-up in place of Daniel Pinillos. Much like the rest of his defensive partners, was solid for long parts of the game.

Michael Mancienne – 5/10

Made his first start after last month’s win over Aston Villa and he looked like someone who hadn’t played for long. Rusty in the centre of the park and was taken off with the Reds chasing the game.

David Vaughan – 6/10

Arguably the best player for Nottingham Forest on the day, especially in the second half. Saw a lot of the ball and was neat and tidy as ever in the middle.

Ben Osborn – 5/10

Struggled to get involved in the game in the first-half, but tried hard to force the issue in the second period. However, it was to no avail.

Ross McCormack – 5/10

Had a half-chance in the first half when he tried to hit a volley from inside the box. But that was as good as it got for McCormack.

Zack Clough – 5/10

Did not lack the effort and tried to get his team going. But his team as a whole couldn’t enough chances on the day. Gave away the free-kick that led to the goal.

Ben Brereton – 5/10

Tireless performance at the top. Ran hard for most parts of the game, but found opportunities at a premium.

Substitutes

Matty Cash – 6/10

Replaced Mancienne at the hour mark. Probably had the best chance for Nottingham but was thwarted by a stunning last-ditch tackle by John Brayford. Missed another close chance after that.

Hildeberto Pereira – 5/10

Came on for the struggling Lichaj as Nottingham looked to nullify the threat of Dyer. Could not get forward enough though.

Apostolos Vellios – 5/10

Came on for Brereton in the 78th minute. Had one half-chance after he came on and that was pretty much it for the attacker. Gave away a silly foul when his team was looking to get on the front-foot.
