Manchester United’s Rashford vs Liverpool’s Solanke: Who Has The Better Potential?

Marcus Rashford vs Dominic Solanke – A Comparison

England has always been a producer of some of the finest youngsters in the world of football and at the moment, the English national team seems secure with the options they have in their attack. While Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford seems to be the next big star for the Three Lions, their success in the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup has mostly been down to Liverpool’s newbie Dominic Solanke.

A youth product of the academy at the Stamford Bridge, Solanke was not able to break into the first team under Antonio Conte last season unlike Rashford, who became the strike force for the Red Devils. The Manchester United man was one of the most important players for Jose Mourinho and is easily one of the most exciting players in world football at the moment.

His gruelling club campaign and his place in the senior Three Lions squad meant that he was not needed in the U-20 World Cup, as Solanke has made sure that they did not miss him. Both players are 19-years old and have immense potential. But who is better?

It is hard to derive too many conclusions about Solanke, who has hardly played any competitive football in England last season. He just made 5 appearances in the Junior Premier League, picking up 2 goals in 373 minutes of football and failed to make it even once into the Chelsea first team under Conte.

Rashford, on the other hand, had a busy season, making 53 appearances in all competitions, picking up 11 goals, including some crucial ones, and 3 assists all season. The exposure the Manchester United star has got is far more than that of Solanke’s.

However, with a move to Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp is expected to use him regularly in the first team or the Premier League2 to help him improve his potential and there is no reason why he cannot become a good player like Rashford.

Both the players are in the very beginning of their careers. While one has established himself as a first team star at on of the biggest clubs in England, one player has not managed to make it to the top-flight, thanks to his former employers’ flawed youth policy. Nevertheless, Solanke will be able to fulfill his potential at Anfield. However, it is Rashford who seems to be a better player right now.

Just like the stupid old game always shows us, it is possible that Solanke could rapidly rise and catch up with Rashford.

A Manchester United young star vs A Liverpool young star? That will be interesting in the future!
