Manchester United’s Line-Up to face Newcastle United

Manchester United have made a solid start to their Premier League campaign with two back-to-back wins and the Red Devils would be looking to continue their good run when they host Newcastle at Old Trafford on Saturday.

United was dealt a major blow in the transfer market when Barcelona forward Pedro signed for Chelsea earlier in the week. Whether Louis van Gaal pulled the plug on the deal or Ed Woodward failed to deliver remains to be seen but United can do with an extra striker and a central defender.

Bastian Schweinsteiger has looked fitter with each appearance and could play a role from the start in this match. Let’s take a look at the Manchester United lineup against the Magpies.

Manchester United’s Goalkeeper- Sergio Romero

Sergio Romero’s distribution needs to improve, but the Argentine has looked impressive otherwise. With David De Gea still on Real Madrid’s radar, Romero can cement a starting place if he continues his impressive performances.

Defence- Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Shaw.

Matteo Darmian has been rock solid at right back, adding defensive solidity and attacking thrust down the right side. Chris Smalling was immense in central defence against Club Brugge and looks a much improved and mature player this season. Daley Blind and Luke Shaw should continue in defence after their impressive showings so far.

Midfield- Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Mata, Januzaj, Depay.

Morgan Schneiderlin has been busy in the middle of the park for United and he’ll be expected to shield the defence while Bastian Schweinsteiger will look to link up with the forwards with his passing and vision.

Juan Mata was United’s best player against Villa last week, moving in centrally and causing problems with his movement and ability. Adnan Januzaj’s pace can hurt Premier League defences and he will take up the No.10 position against Newcastle.

Memphis Depay scored two goals and provided one assist in the midweek Champions League tie and finally looks a player worth £25 million and someone who can take United to the top of the Premier League tree.

Striker- Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney hasn’t scored in his last 9 League games for United and has come under criticism for his sloppy touches and poor control against Villa, and the United captain will be looking to rediscover his goalscoring touch against the Magpies.
