Manchester United’s Forgotten Man, Where Is He Heading?

If there is one particular player in the Manchester United squad who has been rumoured to leave the club for a long time now but still has managed to cling on to the team, it is the Portuguese winger Nani. But with a rather disappointing season behind him and a new manager in charge of the proceedings, it is expected that Nani’s days at United are numbered.

Signed from Sporting Lisbon as an highly capable winger, Nani has always been an understudy at Old Trafford despite Ronaldo’s move to Madrid. Nani has been so very consistent in being inconsistent, yes the man has had some breath taking games, followed by a lengthy spell of poor individual displays.

If all the rumours are said to be true, this summer will be the final one before the winger finds his way out of Manchester.

Therefore we decide to draw the list of three such clubs who may be interested in the services of Nani and in the process help the player to revive his career.

Who else other than Monaco to start with? – The newly promoted French side, are supposedly interested in Nani are a ready to give it a go.  Nani’s experience may prove to be a vital asset for the club which have assembled some top quality players in their ranks. This move may also help Nani revive his career as he will be able to start for the first team week in week out and in a league which is far from the competitiveness of the Premier League. However, Monaco may have to see out Italian giants Juventus first who are interested in Nani for over an year now.

If Moaco does manage to lay their hands of Nani, it could mean James Rodriguez, Radamel Falcao and Nani combining up-front for the newly promoted side.

Galatasaray

The Turkish team had already offered €7m for Nani which United rejected but with still a long time to go for the transfer season to end, equations may change thick and fast. The Turkish league is a favourite destination for players who are past their prime and Nani may not be an exception. He is a proven talent, but just not enough to play in a top league and therefore Turkey may be the likely and sensible destination.

However, the transfer looks a little bleak now as Galatasaray’s chairman, Unal Aysal has claimed that United’s asking price for Nani is a touch higher than their transfer plans,

“We offered €7million (£6m) for him. But they didn’t accept. We can’t give more than this.

“We are not going to follow Nani anymore. We can’t give more than €7m for him.

“They want €10million (£8.5million). Because of this he is not on our transfer list anymore.”

PSG

They had previously shown interest for the Portuguese winger last season, but the deal did not go through for a reported difference in wage and player valuation. But with just 12 months left on his contract, Manchester United would be willing to cash in on the player before rather than leave him on free next summer. However, United’s valuation of £8.5million for Nani, could prove to be a deal breaker and if the clubs compromise on that, we could very well see Nani leaving for France. This may be a win-win situation for both the parties and as I said earlier, playing in Ligue 1 may just revive his career.
