Manchester United To Add Experience In Defence, Arsenal Need Defenders Too, And Much More – January Transfer Window Predictions

Santa Claus is coming soon and he is bringing a lot of presents to the Premier League clubs, well at least the big ones. The January transfer window is nearly upon us and this means only one thing, signing players and hopefully lots of them.

Traditionally the January transfer window is used mostly to cover certain areas of a team which are lacking depth or have been ravaged by injury, like Newcastle’s current scenario with their main goalkeepers all injured and them having to field Ainwick, who was at fault during their Capital One Cup game.

The one club who will be looking most forward to the transfer window is Liverpool. The Merseyside club have been poor this season and their signings just have not clicked. The biggest issue is with their goalkeeping and striking positions; they leak goals and cannot score them. Unlike last season when scoring goals came so naturally, this season the goals have dried up like water in a desert or a lack of it.

The Reds need a new striker, someone who can adjust to their system fast and not be a square peg in a round hole. Talks have been around Ochoa signing for Liverpool to replace Mignolet and Lacazette being the answer to Liverpool’s goal scoring problems, these are the two positions which need instant help, their defence and midfield could also do with some reinforcements. January will be a pretty busy time for Rodgers.

The Red army

Wenger will look to buy defensive players

Continuing with the Red theme, Arsenal will also be looking to dip into the transfer market. The Gunners have been plagued by quite a few injuries in the defensive third and will be looking to sign a centre back at least. They would also be looking to get a defensive midfielder as these two positions have been exploited a lot of times by the opposition.

Arsene has had to play players out of position and it is about time he stops doing that and signs some defensive cover.

Manchester United have had a pretty good season so far, they are in 3rd position and will be looking to cement a Champions League position. They would probably go for an experienced centre back as playing McNair and Blackett can only take you so far. Brazilian defender Joao Miranda is currently linked with the Red Devils.

Louis Van Gaal has done a pretty decent job so far and will be hoping his good work continues even after the transfer window.

The Blue juggernauts

Manchester City have been rocked by the news that Aguero, their top goal scorer this season will be out for a month due to an injury, this means that they have to sign a striker but they should get 2 of them. They only have Dzeko and Pozo as out and out strikers and it seems that letting go of Negredo was a decision taken in haste, at least not replacing him with someone of equal capability.

Chelsea Fabregas Costa
Fabregas & Costa – Chelsea Don’t need any big signings

Chelsea are probably the one team in the league which does not need to strengthen, they have 2 world class players fighting for each position and unless Jose Mourinho can see a rather amazing deal, like how he sold off Mata and Luiz last season, there is no reason for this Blue team to dip into a market which most people consider as overpriced.
