Manchester United vs Everton prediction: Manchester United line-up

Manchester United host Everton on Sunday as the two teams face off each other at Old Trafford in a crucial Premier League encounter.

United have surged to top six after back-to-back wins against Tottenham and Manchester City last week. Currently at 5th place, the Red Devils would be hoping to close the gap on Chelsea, who are one place higher than United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made a shift within the squad and the youngster have done well recently by playing according to the Norwegian’s tactics. They would be hoping to take maximum points against Everton on matchday 17.

Meanwhile, the Toffees are coming into the game on the back of an encouraging win against Chelsea. They were at their best under Marco Silva this term but after last weekend, they might want to put the hosts in trouble.

However, at the moment, United have an upper hand over their Sunday opponents and nothing short of a victory would be able to see them continue their good form.

Team News

Solskjaer has been without some players for a while now. Paul Pogba and Eric Bailly have been away from action for a long time, whereas Diogo Dalot is recovering from a groin injury. All three are expected to be out of this fixture.

Jesse Lingard picked up a knock lately and is a doubt for this game. Timothy Fosu-Mensah is another absentee.

Probable Manchester United XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

David De Gea (GK)

The first-choice since his arrival, De Gea was exceptional against City and stood strong. Except for Nicolas Otamendi’s goal, the Spaniard was at his usual best.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB)

Wan-Bissaka has proven to be a key member under Solskjaer. He kept Raheem Sterling quiet in the Derby and will look to do the same against in-form Richarlison when the Toffees visit. He would start for sure.

Victor Lindelof (CB)

The Swedish international looks to get better each day and his composure was helpful against both Tottenham and City last week. He would be hoping to help the team in keeping a clean sheet.

Harry Maguire (CB)

Though he has not been at his best, Maguire has defended decently and his partnership with Lindelof seems to be working after a lot of inconsistent performances. He is expected to lead the side ahead.

Brandon Williams (LB)

The teenager should get the nod ahead of Young and Luke Shaw, with the latter being substituted in the dying minutes against Pep Guardiola’s men. Williams has been impressive while moving forward too.

Fred (CM)

The Brazilian has come a long way from being at fault for the team’s previous losses to being the dynamic midfielder taking charge in the middle. He has been valuable for the team in the absence of the big names in the squad.

Scott McTominay (CM)

His partnership with Fred has worked wonders for United so far. His presence can be a huge part of the team’s success and therefore, he will start for sure.

Daniel James (RW)

The Welshman’s pace has disturbed some of the best teams in the League. He has featured in every possible game for United. He would be an undoubted starter.

Juan Mata (AM)

The veteran has not been favoured by Solskjaer this term but with Lingard’s return being doubtful, Mata must start ahead of others.

Marcus Rashford (LW)

The top-scorer in the team, Rashford is irreplaceable at the moment. His name on the sheet comes with a guarantee of goals. He would start without a doubt.

Anthony Martial (ST)

The Frenchman is expected to lead United’s attack. His goal proved to be the difference last time around and he remains a great asset in the team.
