Manchester United vs. Arsenal: Combined XI With Only 2 United Stars

Manchester United vs. Arsenal: Combined XI

It was a surprising performance from Manchester United in the Europa League as they defeated FC Midtjylland with a team that comprised of a lot of unknown players. Arsenal on the other hand, had to deal with defeat in the Champions League against Barcelona and now know that the Premier League and the FA Cup is their only salvation this season.

Manchester United haven’t had the best of seasons this year and only a few players have actually been on form for the club while Arsenal have been incredible for most part of the season. Injuries too have played a part this season, especially for Manchester United.

We provide a combined XI based on players on form and those who are fit between the two sides that are to meet on Sunday.

Petr Cech

David de Gea would have made it but Petr Cech just about shades it with his ability to take control of the defence in front of him.

Nacho Monreal

Manchester United do not have a player who can touch Nacho Monreal this season despite him not being the best in the world.

Daley Blind

It would have been Chris Smalling in this role had he not been injured, Per Mertesacker is too prone to injuries and he can’t be put ahead of Blind.

Laurent Koscielny

Probably the best defender in both the teams and he could be the best in the league as well.

Hector Bellerin

Manchester United do not have someone as good as Hector and the young Spaniard easily makes it into this combined XI.

Francis Coquelin

Morgan Schneiderlin might be a bigger name but Coquelin has done more this season despite being injured for a lot of the season.

Aaron Ramsey

The Welshman might be playing in the centre of midfield but he has had a decent season and should be part of this combined XI.

Mesut Ozil

One of the stars of the Premier League this season, Ozil could be in any team in the world and he rightly is in this team as well.

Alexis Sanchez

This might not be Sanchez’ best season in the red of Arsenal but that is still miles better than the seasons that most Manchester United players have had so far.

Juan Mata

The other Manchester United player that makes it into this team, Mata has been one of the more consistent players and deserves to be in this team.

Olivier Giroud

No Wayne Rooney or Anthony Martial, if has to be the French striker who scores in almost every other game to lead this combined XI.
