Manchester United Transfers: Signing Of This £35m Star Would Be A Statement Of Intent From LVG

Premier League clubs are putting their entire focus on the transfer window; bringing in new faces and pushing out their under-performing assets. With every passing season, we see a rise in the quality of football and the competitive spirit increases tenfold. This year has all the promises of thrilling action and gut-wrenching days to come.

Manchester United has seemingly done a good job so far of picking up the pieces and placing them back to reveal a revamped side for the new season ahead. With a tactically brilliant manager in the form of Louis van Gaal taking over the helm at Old Trafford, much is to be expected. As far as the job goes, the Netherlands head coach has started off with utmost dedication to the team. Seeing as the squad needs a makeover, he took no time at all to bring in Southampton’s talented left back, Luke Shaw and Athletic Bilbao’s wonder boy, Ander Herrara. Continuing with the buying spree, United are looking to romp in Chilean superstar and Juventus midfielder, Arturo Vidal.

Seeing how David Moyes’ team fared last year, the entirety of the midfield section was in shambles. To spend on former Chelsea player, Juan Mata, deep into the season helped a little but far more was anticipated. Carrick had been very inconsistent, compared to his statistical high, two years ago. Adding on, Antonio Valencia has always been very physical in his game and has the pace and presence of mind to take the game up front, but has never managed to give timely assists as opposed to his previous seasonal performances.

It seems like every individual player’s standard has declined over the past two years. Considerably, a change in the managerial position has spun the entire aura of the Red Devils.

Vidal has the making of a wonderful midfield positional player and can actually bring a lot to the table. Now that physicality plays a big part in the EPL, his strength and composure can take him to greater heights. After 4 years at Bayer Leverkusen, moving onto Juventus put him on the big stage and made him a front runner for their side. In his 100 odd appearances for the Italian side, he’s raked up around 40 goals and has been instrumental in the recently concluded Seri A season, where Juventus emerged as champions.

With a defensive player like Herrara on the squad sheet, a team up with Vidal would take things to a whole new level. Playing up front and tracking back will come to be quite easy and will help in crucial games against the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City. Also with Mata right behind as attacking midfielder, rotating with Vidal will offload some of the responsibility and reduce the amount of match fatigue each player endures.

Basically spending around the £35m area which the board have approved for, should get him flying down to Manchester for a medical. With Vidal through, the midfield should be set with proper training and chemistry building. And hopefully with Evra moving the other way, the chances of Vidal making the move is likely.

In other news, PSG are leading the race to grab Argentina and Madrid star player, Angel di Maria. United were clear favorites to make the signing happen but his release clause and convincing strategies were outrun by the French side and £50 million deal is to fall through in a short period of time. Anyway, considering target-wise, mainly Vidal was to finish up first and fore most. And with di Maria out of the picture, consider Vidal wearing the Reds jersey from now on!
