Manchester United: Three Players They Should Consider Signing This Winter

If there is one team who have conducted themselves with utmost unprofessionalism during the transfer window, it is undoubtedly Manchester United. They have faltered with their bids, made ludicrous offers, purchased a player with more money when they could have got him for far less and then have failed to complete deals for lack of time. David Moyes’ first transfer window in charge of Manchester United has been disastrous and now the Scot needs to try and compensate this with an excellent January window.

Although we are not sure about Moyes’ plan and January is still a long way to go, we will look at three players that United should try and sign when the next transfer window starts.

Fabio Coentrao

United were almost close to land this defender from Madrid this time with a late late bid, but were unsuccessful as they ran out of time. But it would be a wise decision to re-ignite their interest during January as Patrice Evra has hit an age where there is a no guarantee that he would deliver all season long and a backup would be essential. Coentrao is also surplus to Madrid’s requirements and they would certainly agree to part with the player on a loan deal. Leighton Baines another left back option, would certainly add much more quality to the side but Everton would surely want to hold on to their star player for this season.

Ezequiel Garay

With Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic both ageing, United would look into options and Garay could definitely be the man for the Red Devils. The Benfica defender is a world class center back and is highly rated by the United hierarchy. There have already been reports of Garay joining the Premier League side, but somehow the deal did not transpire through. January could be the time when we finally see the Argentine joining United, although his services would cost United a fee in the range of £17m. Garay has been one of the top performer for his club since moving from Real Madrid where he couldn’t make his mark.

Iker Muniain

One more deadline day failure for United this summer is Iker Muniain along with his team mate Ander Herrera from Athletico Bilbao and in the next transfer window United could look to get Muniain. At 20, he is one of the most promising prospects of Spanish football at the moment and would go on to strengthen the left wing position of the team. Bilbao would like to keep one of its future stars, but the financial muscle that United can flex may just seal the deal. However, United will have to spend as much as £29.5million if they are serious about signing Iker Muniain.
