Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal said that Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea all is set to sit out of the second game as the Dutchman will start with Argentine Sergio Romero against Aston Villa on Friday.
De Gea, who was named United’s player of the year for the last two seasons, was omitted by Van Gaal for Saturday’s win over Tottenham is likely to sit out of tomorrow’s match as well because of concerns about the Spaniard’s move to 10 time European Champions Real Madrid.
Asked if De Gea would be in the squad for the Villa game, he told a news conference: No. It’s the same situation. The transfer period is still open and he [De Gea] has still the same problem.
In spite of his transfer rumours with Real Madrid, De Gea has been included in the Manchester United’s squad for the UEFA Champions League Play-Off match against Club Brugge next week. But the role of the Spaniard in the playing XI is not yet decided.
