Argentine international Angel Di Maria has said that he has no intention of moving to European Champions Barcelona, no matter how much his team-mates joke with him about the situation. The Catalan press had covered a story over the past few weeks according to which the superstar winger was linked with the La Liga giants.
Further, there were claims that a bid was being prepared by Barca and it was revealed by Argentine newspaper Ole, that rivals Real Madrid had inserted a clause to prevent Di Maria’s future transfer to the Camp Nou and various other such rumours.
Some of these claims were utter nonsense but the speculations just won’t go away. The superstar was once again being criticized for poor performances in the Copa America, but responded with two goals in his country’s thrashing of Paraguay.
A relieved and much happier Di Maria has since then been talking to the press and revealed that Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano had brought up the idea of a Barcelona move. ESPN’s Roberto Martinez quoted the midfield star as saying, to TYC Sports, “Leo and Masche always joke with me and tell me to go with them to Barcelona but I’m good in Manchester… My first year at each European club where I’ve played was never good. Then I improved and finished very well. I know that I will repeat that at Man United.”
