Manchester United Skipper Confirms Huge Commitment To Country

Wayne Rooney

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, who turns 30 in October says he’ll never say he isn’t available for the Three Lions, unlike some other former players. The skipper broke Sir Bobby Charlton’s 49 goal record, as he scored against Switzerland. The 29-year-old superstar spoke about his intentions to play for the national side, till he can and will have to be axed before he hangs up his boots.

Rooney stated, “If I feel I can carry on, I’ll try. But I won’t be one to say I’m not available for selection.”

“It’ll probably be the manager’s choice more than mine. It’s a huge honour to play for England.”

Previously Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole retired from international football since Euro 2012, with John Terry leaving as well over off-the-field issues three years ago.

The Red Devils’ star further added, “If the manager feels I can’t do it then fair enough.”

“I’ll imagine it’ll be difficult for me to say that I’m ready not to play.”

“If the manager says he doesn’t feel I’m in his plans for the next tournament, it’s probably better I don’t play in the qualifying games because I won’t be going to the tournament.”
