Man United have missed a trick by not signing this red hot English magician and Solskjaer will regret it

Manchester United should’ve signed James Maddison

Manchester United have navigated two of their hardest fixtures of the league season with a satisfactory 4 points, 5 goals scored and one conceded.

They’ll feel hard done by the draw away at the Molineux against Wolves but there were signs of encouragement after being abject for most of last season and only getting a point from the same fixture last season.

A lot of credit goes to the new signings who’ve had a fantastic effect on the rest of the side but with a long season ahead, there was room for more business and one player who might’ve completed the puzzle was Leicester City’s James Maddison, who they were linked (h/t Express) with in the summer. He would have added a lot of creativity.

Leicester too faced the same opposition as United in their first two games of the season and got two draws. They will feel like they should’ve taken all 3 points against Chelsea at the Bridge and one player who really impressed was James Maddison.

Maddison was dictating every attacking move that Leicester was involved in and Chelsea simply couldn’t handle him as he was unplayable in the second half. He should’ve buried a chance of his own making but Maddison is currently the face of this young and brave Leicester side.

Last season, he scored 7 goals and registered 7 assists, and is capable of far more after being the highest chance creator in the league last season. Maddison is only 22-years old and has his best years ahead of him.

United have had a clear change in identity under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer by trying to sign the best of the rising young British talents like they’d done in the past under Sir Alex Ferguson.

James Maddison

Maddison is a fantastic dribbler and a fantastic passer who can chip in with goals and also provide a set-piece threat with his deliveries. Maddison could’ve helped United make a real challenge for the big honours.

Verdict

It’s a bit of a surprise that Maddison has still not got an England call-up but he could very easily be joining many of his future England team-mates if he were to join United, which will allow him to settle quickly.

He’s proven in the Premier League, which is another factor that would allow him to fit in perfectly. The No.10 position is currently vacant at Man United and Maddison would be a perfect fit.
