An article in the Daily Mirror written by John Cross appeared on the newspaper’s website on Thursday stated that Manchester United had ‘lost’ the race to sign Athletic Bilbao’s Aymeric Laporte to their Spanish rivals Barcelona. The report further adds that the 21-year-old French defender has agreed to sign for the La Liga champions next summer for a fee believed of about £35m.
Naturally, SportWitness must have picked something from the Spanish, Catalan and Basque papers to see the whole rumour was about and there was nothing. Later it appeared on Sport’s website titled “Laporte may have already said ‘yes’ to Barca”, modifying and relaying the Daily Mirror’s information.
Also, a similar article was published on Mundo Deportivo’s website, stating something similar and everybody seems to be confused. well, the only thing that is certain at the moment is that both Barca and the Red Devils will have to battle it out to decide who wins the race for his signature. This is why the top European clubs are at the back of him
