Rooney to leave this summer?

The news that Wayne Rooney is set to leave Manchester United has certainly gathered pace in the last couple of days. It is said that Fergie has grown fed up with the Englishman’s lifestyle and believes he has already hit his peak and the story that Falcao was the man the United are looking to replace adds up to the story.

According to Daily mail and Metro, An agreement is in place between Manchester United and PSG for the frontman, and he will join the Parisians in the summer in a deal worth up to £35m. Michel Moulin, a former advisor at PSG appeared before a French Television and revealed the story.

“I announce to you from trusted sources – Rooney to PSG is done. He will be at PSG next season.”

The French side have been impressed with the response to the signing of David Beckham, and now want to bring another talismanic English figure to the Parc des Princes; both for on and off the pitch purposes.

However, both United and the striker are yet to comment on this. Rooney who was has been a bit part of United’s attacking line-up off late has found himself playing out of position most of the times as Ferguson prefers Van Persie in the more advanced role. The sale of Rooney will leave certainly leave a gap in the attack for Manchester United. A gap that is likely to be filled by Radamel Falcao of Atlético Madrid. The Colombian forward has been watched by United (or at-least rumoured to be watched) for months and talks have been held regarding his purchase. United will face stiff competition from Chelsea and Real Madrid for the star forward’s signature, but there is a quiet confidence that Ferguson will get his man yet again.

Adding to all this, PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has personally asked Rooney to join the French side and claimed that it is the best place to find a new challenge.

It promises to be an enthralling Summer at Old Trafford.
