Manchester United Player Ratings vs Swansea City

Swansea City created history on Saturday evening at the Liberty Stadium, as they completed a season double over Manchester United. They defeated their mighty opponents yet again at their home ground to keep their hopes alive of making it to Europe next season. Ander Herrera scored the first goal of the match giving the visitors the lead. Ki Sung- Yueng restored parity in the first half itself. In the second half, John Shelvey’s long-range attempt was deflected by Bafitembi Gomis which founded the back of the net.

The Manchester United player ratings are given below.

David De Gea – 7/10

David De Gea had a decent outing at the Liberty stadium today. Swansea scored two goals but in both the occasions the Spaniard could not have done anything. De Gea has set very high standards for himself in this season, so going by that, he had an average day at the office

Phil Jones – 5/10

Phil Jones was not up to the mark today.  He failed to match Bafitembi Gomis’ physical strength and was poor in his defensive approach. He made quite a few defensive errors which could have increased Manchester United’s blushes.

Paddy McNair – 4/10

Paddy McNair is one of the most promising talents in the Premier League. He has played good at the center back position for the club before but today he looked uncomfortable at the right-back position. He was replaced by Antonio Valencia in the second half

Marcos Rojo – 5.5/10

Marcos Rojo was the best among the Manchester United defenders. He looked aggressive throughout and displayed some solid defending. He lacked support from his fellow defenders.

Luke Shaw – 5.5/10

Luke Shaw looked good in some occasions but disappointed overall. He made a few overlapping runs, but was at fault during Ki Sung’s equalizing goal.

Daley Blind – 6/10

Daley Blind did a fair job in the defensive midfield role. He was tidy in his approach and looked firm in the midfield. He won the balls well in the midfield zone and acted well as a link between the attackers and defenders.

Ander Herrera – 7/10

Ander Herrera scored the opening goal of the match to give Manchester United a much-needed lead. It was a neat finish from Angel Di Maria’s pass. He was the best performer on the pitch for his club and covered a lot of ground. He was the standout performer on a disappointing day.

Angel Di Maria -5.5/10

Angel Di Maria disappointed the fans with his poor show on the pitch today. A lot was expected from the attacker, but he failed to deliver. He has still not found his lost form and this is affecting his team a lot. Except for the goal scoring pass to Ander Herrera Di Maria looked bland throughout the game

Marouane Fellaini -6.5 /10

Marouane Fellaini did a fair job today. He worked hard in the midfield and covered a lot of ground. Unfortunately, he lacked creativity and could not generate goal scoring lethal passes for his strikers.

Wayne Rooney – 7/10

Wayne Rooney yet again started as a striker today alongside Robin van Persie. Rooney did a decent job as a striker. He was as usual hard working and generated quite a few opportunities. Unfortunately, he lacked support.

Robin van Persie – 3.5/10

The Dutchman as usual performed poorly on the field. He attempted a few shots, but most of them were not on target. He was easily marked by the Swansea City defenders and he failed create chances for himself. Also, he could not support his fellow striker Wayne Rooney. His time is up probably.

Substitutions:

Antonio Valencia – 5/10

Antonio Valencia replaced an under-performing Paddy McNair in the right-back position. He did not have much impact on the game. Except for a few speedy overlapping runs, Valencia was pretty average today.

Ashley Young – 5/10

Ashley Young was brought in place of Luke Shaw, who failed to impress Louis van Gaal. Young was booked for a late challenge on Wayne Routledge. The English winger too had no notable impact on the game.

Juan Mata – N/A

Juan Mata came at the 80th-minute mark and thus it was too little time to create any impact.
