Manchester United Player Ratings vs Norwich City + Moyes Interview

Manchester United player ratings against Norwich City

A lucky strike from substitute Danny Welbeck  was enough to give Manchester United an unconvincing 1-0 win against Norwich City here at Carrow Road on Saturday. It was the sixth win for David Moyes’ side in as many matches the Red Devils are now just seven points behind (Manchester City as of now) in the top of the table. Speaking of the Canaries, it was a massive disappointment for Chris Houghton and his side who gave their all but could only leave the pitch empty handed. Despite the changes Moyes rung in, United never got into the strides or their rhythm but still managed to get the crucial win.

Here is Soccersouls’ very own Manchester United player ratings against Norwich City

David De Gea: Made two quality saves and going by stats had to deal with four shots overall. Kept his team in the match albeit his gloves and in the end deserved a clean sheet for his performance.

Rating: 3/5

Patrice Evra: Had a very quiet game according to his standards thanks to a very poor first half. Did well in the last 45 minutes but it seems as if his age is catching up with him.

Rating: 2/5

Chris Smalling: Played at right back and was great in getting forward and overlapping the wingers. Adjusted to Nathan Redmond’s dribbling and controlled him throughout the match. A great shift indeed playing out of position.

Rating: 3/5

Johnny Evans: Finally a good match for the centre back who was willing to put his body on the line.

Rating: 2.5/5

Nemanja Vidic: Was a rock at the back as usual and deserves the applause for every bit of United’s clean sheet. Still one of the best defenders in the league.

Rating: 3/5

Micheal Carrick: Great outing for the Englishman in his first match back after an injury. Was at the heart of United’s midfield and produced a display of silky exhilarance.

Rating: 3/5

Tom Cleverly: My man of the match for a sublime performance with almost 100% passing accuracy and no nonsense tackling. What a performance!

Raing: 4/5

Ryan Giggs: I didn’t understand why he even played in the first place! His age has caught up with him and was rightly replaced at the beginning of the second half. Flop of the match for me!

Rating: 1/5

Ashley Young: Once again a disappointing outing for the Englishman, his only notable contribution being a through ball played to Chicharito up front.

Rating: 2/5

Shinji Kagawa:  He is yet to get into the forays of the Premier League and Moyes needs to work on his defensive discipline, explaining him the need to track back and help his defence.

Rating: 2/5

Javier Hernandez: Looked lost for most of the time. Seemed only interested and involved when Welbeck was introduced.

Rating: 2/5

Special Watch: Danny Welbeck: Yet another matured performance and the goal which decided the outcome of the match! Go on Danny Lad, Maybe RVP’s absence might just be a boon for this English youngster.

Rating: 4/5
