Manchester United Or Liverpool? Which English Club Should Benzema Sign For?

The transfer market can’t come soon enough for some clubs, Liverpool being one of them. Their recent transfer deals have put them in a bit of trouble as none of their players signed this season have really stepped up to the mark. The team that scored more than 100 goals last season in the Premier League has only scored 50 this season and to make matters worse their star striker Daniel Sturridge has spent more time on the treatment table than on the field.

News though is coming in that Karim Benzema, the French striker from Real Madrid would be available for a transfer next season and that has set quite a few clubs scurrying to get their deal done for the 27-year-old striker. Any deal to sign the Frenchman would cost high and Real do not really have to sell anyone but if they do, they would ensure the best and maximum price from the sale of Benzema.

Karim Benzema: Striker extraordinaire

Although Benzema always had a great scoring record during his time with Lyon, it was not expected that he would be doing this well when he left the French club to join Real Madrid. While Benzema scored 66 goals in 148 appearances for Lyon, his last two seasons at Lyon saw him scored 56 goals in just 99 appearances.

He then made the move to Real Madrid and so far has scored 133 goals in 279 appearances, not a bad record to have when you are constantly getting usurped by the likes of Ronaldo. Benzema is a proper fox in the box but has the pace and ability to score from anywhere around the penalty box. He is not two-footed but has great composure in front of goal and he isn’t bad at assisting. Benzema, either out of ability of compulsion has provided 9 assists so far this season and that is something that sets him apart from a lot of strikers.

Benzema is a good header of the ball as well and that would be great for a team that pumps in a lot of crosses. Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal would be monitoring the situation with Benzema and while all three clubs would love to have the striker at the club but only one would get him. In all honesty if any club really needs a striker at the moment it is Liverpool.

None of their strikers have been able to do much for the team, Borini, Lambert and Balotelli have been a collective failure, but they will have Divock Origi coming in and also with Sturridge going under the knife, he could come back fitter and stronger next season. Arsenal could be a club that could use a striker but they already have Olivier Giroud who is their first choice striker and he would not like to be moved to the bench to accommodate another striker.

Manchester United have Falcao, Van Persie and Rooney, but only one player has clicked for them all season and he was played in midfield for quite a few games. The team have gotten certain things back on their side as they would finally play in the Champions League next season after missing out last year. They could actually use a world class striker and they have some brilliant wingers who can play the Frenchman in, Old Trafford could be calling out for the striker next season as Louis Van Gaal begins his quest for a Premier League title.
