When you are good, people talk about you, when you are very good, people want to sign you up. Well, that is the case for most footballers and it is no different for Gabon international Pierre – Emerick Aubameyang. The Borussia Dortmund striker has been on fire this season and has already bagged 25 goals in just 22 games. Certainly he seems to have found his shooting boots at the right time and that only means some of the top teams will try to get his signature.
Chelsea and Manchester United seem to be in the running to sign the striker on fire, but which club would be the best suited for him?
Red or Blue, a tough choice to make
Let’s start with the way Aubameyang plays, the striker is extremely quick, probably one of the fastest players in the game today. He has a great shot in him and can also chip in with a few free-kicks as well. He can play anywhere in the top three of a team, but his best position has to be down the middle.
Manchester United seem to have fixed their issues at the back and the only problem they have so far is the lack of a top quality attacker. Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial aren’t doing enough, we can forgive Martial seeing that he is still young and adapting to the league but Rooney’s form will a concern for Louis van Gaal and Manchester United as a whole. Even Memphis has been poor this season and he hasn’t even played all that regularly for the team this season.
Chelsea on the other hand, have been woeful, it isn’t just the attack that isn’t firing, and it is the entire team which is struggling. Chelsea also have no strikers who can replace Diego Costa, they do have Falcao and Loic Remy, but they aren’t the best options at the moment and certainly are not trusted to do the job for Jose Mourinho.
In fact, Aubameyang would be a great bet for Manchester United. They seem to be a complete team but he would get more chances to start at Chelsea seeing how the relationship between Mourinho and Costa is on the verge of exploding to bits. Aubameyang would provide incredible quality to both teams.
Aubameyang wouldn’t have to worry about playing on the wing, United have great options on the wings with Mata, Memphis, Young and Martial. The team as a whole is playing alright, the defence is tight and their goalkeeper is having yet another stellar season. The midfield also seems to be doing fairly well, the missing link is in attack and that is something that the pace, finishing and movement of Aubameyang can easily take care off.
Whichever team does want to sign the speed merchant would have to fork out a huge amount. Tuchel and Dortmund would not allow one of their stars to leave easily, but Aubameyang might want to try out his luck in a league where either United or Chelsea could win the title in the near future. United are geared to have a striker like Aubameyang in their side, would he choose them over Dortmund now, it would be hard to say but when Manchester United call, everyone listens.
