Manchester United opinion: Red Devils in for Elseid Hysaj – Good move?
According to a report in the Sun, Manchester United have made contact with Serie A side Napoli about right-back Elseid Hysaj about a possible move during this transfer window.
It is suggested that the Red Devils have been interested in the player but will face competition from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid before finalising the deal. (h/t Sun)
As per the report (h/t Sky Italy), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are looking for a full-back who can play on either side, perhaps to replace Ashley Young ahead of next season. (h/t Sun)
For that reason, Albanian captain Hysaj, who can play on either side, is on their radar. He joined Napoli in 2015 when Maurizio Sarri was in charge and has been a regular down there.
Here’s why United would be right to sign the 25-year-old during this summer window:
United could do with quality in their full-back positions
It has been well-documented since the start of this transfer window that Manchester United are in the market to sign a new full-back, preferably right-back, but a versatile player would come as a bonus.
However, while they have just about managed to agree to a £55m fee to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace (h/t Sun), the form of Ashley Young and departure of Antonio Valencia means that the club could do with another player in those positions.
So, they are absolutely right in pursuing a possible deal to sign Elseid Hysaj from Napoli. The Albania captain is predominantly a right-back but is perfectly capable of operating on the other side.
At 25, he has played enough top-flight Italian and International football to possess the experience required to play in a club of Manchester United’s stature.

Conclusion
Overall, Solskjaer’s men shouldn’t hesitate in making a move for the Napoli man, regardless of whether they complete the agreed deal of Wan-Bissaka.
