Nani’s future at Old Trafford has been under speculation for a long time, with the winger linked with a move out every now and then. And now it looks like he may finally leave United with his agent Jorge Mendes, in an interview with Italian Radio station Radio Mana Mana, has stressed that he may leave the club this summer and that currently there are no such deals that are going on. His exact words were
“He’s a good football player and the whole world knows it. Will he go to Roma? Why not? Serie A is one of the best leagues in the world and Rome is a beautiful city.”
“We constantly talk about the possibility of a transfer, but in the end, he always seems to stay at Manchester United. There is the possibility that he will leave. At the moment, nothing is concrete, the waters are calm. It depends on which players interest Manchester United.”
The 26-year old has winger has one more year before his United contract expires, and the rumours have so far pointed in the direction of Italy with the likes of Juventus, Napoli and Roma as the likely destination. With the player ruling out the possibility of a return to Portugal, Moyes will have to work it out with Mendes if United were to receive anything out of the player this summer, rather than see him walkout on a free transfer next term.
Also with the arrival of Wilfried Zaha, David Moyes’ side will be enriched with one of the most exciting younger’s in England right now. The winger, who was brought in during the winter transfer window, spent the remaining season with his parent club helping them to reach the Premier League and with the likes of Young and Valencia above him on the pecking order, Nani will obviously find it hard to get regular game time.
Nani joined the club in 2007 from Sporting Lisbon for a fee of £17m and it is safe to say that so far the results have not been achieved. In 216 appearances for the club so far, he has scored 39 goals and assisted another 73. But the fact that will bother him is the game time that he received in the last season. He started in just 11 Premier League matches a scored a single goal, which may finally trigger the transfer.
In other news, Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara is reportedly missing out on a team photo posted by the club’s official Instagram account. Thiago along with Gerard Pique, Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, Xavi and Carlos Puyol were snapped wearing Barca’s new home and away jerseys during the kit launch, but now the latest photo that has been running on the magazines are seen without Alcantara.
Daily Star posted these two photos and raised the question as to what happened to the midfielder?
David Moyes is supposed to hold his first press conference as a United manager later today and do not be surprised if he announces the signing of Barcelona player Thiago Alcantara. The 22-year old’s transfer saga has been stuck for a long time now, but it is believed that finally the two clubs have agreed upon a deal for the player and it will be done and dusted as early as Friday.
