Manchester United Latest Including: Fabregas And Ronaldo

Share

Manchester United manager David Moyes has confirmed on Monday that the Premier League champions have made another effort to sign Spanish Midfielder Cesc Fabregas after their initial offer of £25 million got rejected.

The former Arsenal player, who currently dons the jersey of the Spanish giants Barcelona, has been an alleged target of United after their efforts to sign Thiago Alcantara failed. Fabregas spent eight long seasons for the Gunners before moving to Barcelona in 2011. With a career total of 86 goals and 132 assists in 399 club appearances, he is a type of player every manager would crave for. Quoted by the Guardian, Manchester United have made an improved £30m bid for Barcelona’s Cesc Fábregas.

Moyes said in a press conference that Ed Woodward, the club’s executive vice-chairman, had received a response from Barcelona.

“He has spoken to them. There has been a second offer, but Ed is dealing with that,” said Moyes. I will try and move this one (Fabregas) forward. Ed is working hard on these deals and we can only hope they fall into place soon.”

So there is no doubt Red Devils want this prolific midfielder in their squad. However, Moyes continued to quote that United will forget the deal if there is no real progression even after an improved offer.

“I think a point does come but I think when you are interested in good players you want to give it every opportunity to materialise. And I’ll do that. I’ll hope that things can continue to try to move forward. At this moment I can only tell you that Ed Woodward is working hard to make the deals happen and we’re hoping some of them will fall into place shortly.”

In other news, former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho ousted any chance of Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Old Trafford. Mourinho, who returned to the West-London club Chelsea after his spells at Inter Milan and Real Madrid, claimed that the Madrid club will deny any ludicrous offer made for the Portuguese international.

Quoted by the Telegraph, Mourinho said:

“What I know is that Madrid is such a rich club they don’t need to sell. It is such a rich club I think they can ‘eat’ any offer a club can have on Ronaldo. I know Ronaldo loves Manchester United and I know he loves the Premier League but I think he is going to stay.”

“It’s just a feeling, I’ve had no contact, nothing like that — it’s just a feeling.”

Cristiano Ronaldo started his career at United in 2003 under Sir Alex, before moving on to Real, where he reached the zenith of his stardom. The Portuguese International has already started preparations for the new season with the Galacticos as he faced Ronaldo Englsih Championship side Bournemouth and completed the evening with two goals to his name.
